This Week On Couch Soup
A weekly recap of articles, videos, podcasts, and more.

Backrooms Review: Trapped by Memories
It’s apparently the season of YouTube-creators-becoming-feature-film-directors and Tom is here for it. With bangers like Iron lung and Obsession already receiving rave revies, he was excited to see where this movie fit in. Was the third time still the charm? Or did a weak overall plot muddy the excellent sound and set design? Dive into your potential maze of memories with him! Have you seen any of these films? What did you think? Let us know!
Spider-Noir Review: Does Nicolas Cage Deliver a Worthy Spider-Verse Mystery? | Watching Now Podcast
It’s Nicholas Cage, so yes we watched it. I guess the more important subject would be that it’s a Spider-Noir Season Review, but Nicholas Cage. Anyway, join Watching Now faves Iain, Tom, and Lily as they dive into the Spider-Verse once again. Does Nicholas Cage have room to be Nicholas Cage? Did it lean too heavily into the detective-story visuals? Find out if you agree with our thoughts on the season as a whole!
TIP - Oh Hey! Us again. Another friendly reminder.
There are audio versions of every Watching Now available wherever you listen to your podcasts, so if watching isn’t your jam, plug your headphones in and carry on! While you’re at it, a review would help build the community even more. So turn on, tune in, nerd out, and leave a review when you can!
We Sold Out. Tastefully. CapCut Is Genuinely Great.
Have you ever watched a perfectly edited video and thought, “I could never do that”? Great news: you were wrong and CapCut is here to prove it. CapCut is a free video editor so powerful and easy to use that even someone who still calls the TV remote “the clicker” can produce banger content. Slap on auto-captions! Remove your background! Apply AI effects that make you look like you have your life together! Add a dramatic slow-mo to literally anything… your coffee, your commute, your cat’s judgment-filled stare at 3am. Art is subjective.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea Review - Secrets Hidden Under the Sea
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime has taken the anime world by storm since it’s original release in 2018. After 4 seasons, a spin-off, and a successful feature, the crowd was yelling for an encore. So an encore came! Does it live up to the success of the past and fit right in? Or does it slide down the scale a notch? Join Tom on his journey of discovering this for himself, and whether he thinks it’s worthy of the story name! Do the fights make up for a meh story? Ok enough leading questions, as you were!
Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord Season 1 Review: Maul’s Return
Maybe listening isn’t your jam, and hey, I get that jelly. So Tom has done us a solid and put his perspective of one of his favorite characters from his stint on Watching Now, into writing. What a gentleman. From being in the room when the show was announced, to now having seen all of season 1, did it live up to his expectations and hype? After every few duds, there has to be a winner in the Disney world, right?(heh, see what I did there?). Did you watch Maul- Shadow Lord? Did you hate it? Let us know!
